The Semiconductor Manufacturing Concentration leads to
a Master of Manufacturing Engineering degree with
objectives to provide, (1) a broad semiconductor
industry background, and (2) an academic bridge
to this industry from a variety of academic backgrounds,
such as Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
Instruction for this program makes use of semiconductor
industry experts and National Laboratory staff
and facilities to augment UNM's extensive interdisciplinary
educational resources. This expanded mix insures
a broad, modern experience in each of the areas
that makeup the semiconductor fabrication enterprise,
ranging from organization and management to design
and processing specific technologies through the
varied packaging and tests that insure reliability
of the final microelectronics product.
Six courses make up the core technical part of
the curriculum and three courses overview management
practices. The core technical courses are divided
into modules, each of which has an individual
instructor. This team-teaching approach insures
maximum exposure to scientists and engineers with
experience in modern microcircuit fabrication
and test.
The S/C Concentration Plan can be entered via
the ChNE, ECE, or ME Home departments. |
